About ABT
HISTORY ABT officially commenced operations in July 2003. ABT is a
registered Trinidadian company that is based in Tropical Plaza,
Point-a-Pierre, Trinidad. ABT is a 50/50 joint venture between
the Asset & Risk Engineering Group (ARE) and Bechtel
International.
The company was conceptualized in response to the Government of
Trinidad and Tobago’s request to perform a portion of the
Atlantic LNG (ALNG) Train 4 engineering and design locally. Both
ARE and Bechtel regard this as a valuable opportunity to provide
services to the engineering/construction market that were
previously not available in Trinidad and Tobago and position
partner companies for business opportunities in the Caribbean.
This would also provide a platform for the development of
national employees, equipping them with new capabilities to
serve the region in good stead on a sustainable basis.
ABT started as a small office with 15-20 employees. Since then
ABT has expanded its range of services, staff, capabilities and
experience in all engineering design disciplines. In addition to
this we have included procurement, project management, project
controls, quality assurance, health and safety, document
control, information technology and other support services to
meet the growing demands of the industry and the region.
The founding partners of ABT, ARE and Bechtel, are united by
their firm beliefs and common values. Furthermore, Bechtel’s
strengths in project management, engineering, procurement and
construction are complemented by ARE’s competencies in plant
management as well as asset and risk management services.
